Participant and Caregiver services
What may appear to an outside observer as just “fun and games” are in fact activities which have been chosen and adapted to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of each Participant. Whether experiencing cognitive impairments, physical limitations, emotional disturbances, or other challenges, every Participant is included in each day’s activity program. To achieve optimal success, several activities are often scheduled concurrently.
Without diminishing the importance of the many other services provided by R&R, it is our conviction that recreation and leisure-related activities are unmatched in their inherent potential to motivate, heal, and raise the human spirit.
Regularly scheduled activities at R&R include:
Art, crafts, reminiscing, board games, dice games, dominoes, devotions, word games, trivia, pet therapy, gardening, dance, yoga, tai chi, seasonal events and parties, Birthday Celebrations, movies, word puzzles, community outings, bingo, reality orientation, sensory stimulation, and so much more.
As part of our program we provide our participants, at no additional charge, with door-to-door transportation to and from our center, and if needed to doctor appointments, the grocery store, the pharmacy, the beauty shop, etc. This frees up time for the caregiver. We also provide transportation for individuals in the community who have an emergency need for transportation to a doctor, pharmacy or the local senior center. These individuals have no other source for transportation or means to pay for transportation.
Health monitoring, observation and supervision by our staff.
Breakfast and afternoon snacks and a nutritious hot lunch with attention to special diets.
Help with activities of daily living (such as mobility, incontinence care and assistance, showering, etc.)
The Caregiver Support Group provides an opportunity for family members, friends and caregivers of aging adults to meet regularly for mutual emotional support and to exchange coping skills with one another in a safe, supportive environment. Support group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 11:00am.
We offer, free of charge, short-term loans of basic medical equipment, by donation, to those recovering from surgery or injury, or living with mobility limitations. Equipment includes mobility aids, bath aids, toileting aids, walking aids, and aids to daily living.
We have a collection of print and other media resources including books and DVDs on topics such as family caregiving skills, best clinical practices, and inspirational coping techniques that caregivers can check-out.
